Overview of corporate services

How are we different?

Clinical Psychology Associates has pioneered the application of cognitive-behavioural approaches and other clinically-proven psychological interventions in the context of business. We have consistently demonstrated positive outcomes that represent an excellent return on investment for all our clients.

As specialist clinical psychologists, we are experts in mental health, psychological functioning and emotional well-being. This allows us not only to identify and resolve problems rapidly and effectively, but also to predict how such issues are likely to be manifest in any given work environment.

The emphasis we place on early intervention – and, above all, prevention – enables our clients to minimise the disruption caused by reduced productivity and stress-related absences, whilst avoiding the stigma associated with psychiatric input and the expense of acute residential care.

We use a genuinely scientific approach that is underpinned by systematic assessment and formulation of psychological factors, state-of-the-art intervention strategies recommended by the Department of Health and the National Institute for Clinical Excellence, and rigorous outcome evaluation.

We have a comprehensive understanding of cognitive-behavioural theory and practice that gives us unparalleled insight into the mental and emotional processes that shape interaction and behaviour in the workplace.

We assess the impact on work performance of psychological factors and underlying personality traits using scientifically-validated psychometric measures, many of which cannot be administered or interpreted by any other type of psychologist.

Moreover, because we are clinical rather than occupational or organisational psychologists, we address the challenges faced by HR and line managers from an entirely different perspective – one that focuses on the thinking styles, emotional responses and behavioural patterns of individual employees, and identifies the crucial ways in which these factors influence interpersonal relationships and the dynamics within teams.

This unique approach has enabled us to establish a proven track record of success, based on measurable outcomes, in the following key areas:

  • Improving mental health and well-being
  • Minimising stress-related absences
  • Preventing burnout
  • Increasing productivity
  • Optimising the performance of individuals
  • Enhancing the functioning of teams
  • Facilitating more effective communication
  • Resolving conflict
  • Reducing staff turnover

Who are our clients?

Our clients range from medium-sized UK businesses to FTSE 100-listed companies and global organisations. Our current client base includes companies operating in a diverse range of sectors: investment banking, insurance, private equity, utilities, pharmaceuticals, media, leisure and occupational health, as well as government agencies. Indeed, the intervention programmes we devise have been shown to be fully applicable to businesses of every type and scale.

How can we help your company?

Everything we deliver for our clients is bespoke rather than ‘off the shelf’. This is because all our cutting-edge intervention programmes are derived from a systematic assessment of each company’s specific HR and management needs. On this basis, we devise and implement tailored programmes at three broad organisational levels:

Specialist-level programmes are designed for individuals or teams working in extremely demanding environments in which they are subjected to significant and prolonged pressure. These are preventative programmes that optimise performance whilst minimising vulnerability to psychological difficulties and ultimately burnout.

Management-level programmes are designed for those who oversee individuals or teams and recognise the need to understand more fully the ways in which psychological factors influence work performance and productivity. These programmes enable managers to promote well-being in a genuinely proactive way.

Staff-level programmes are rapid response interventions for individuals or teams who are experiencing unusual levels of pressure for a temporary period, or who are in conflict or otherwise not functioning at their optimal level. These interventions can take the form of one-to-one input, group work or professional development workshops.

Information on the intervention programmes we deliver can be accessed through the links on the left-hand side of this page. However, please contact us to discuss how these programmes can be tailored to the specific requirements of your business.
